Disability and Ableism

In this space, we will post about and discuss issues relating to disability, both in relation to UMBC students and faculty with disabilities and in a broader context.  We wish to include voices from all perspectives and engage readers with and without disabilities.  We hope to connect readers to resources about living with disabilities and to resources relating to disability rights and ableism.
Students with disabilities -- including learning, emotional, and physical -- can speak to Student Support Services for academic and institutional support, as according to the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Student Advocates are also available to work with and for students who are dealing with issues related to ableism or disability on campus.  For now, you can contact them by visiting the SGA Office on the second floor of the Commons, by the Student Org Space.  This space will be updated as the Student Advocates obtains more avenues of communication.
